About

South Africa does tend to get a bad press, but it is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and the local people are extremely friendly. Its location is breathtaking, with Table Mountain is forming the backdrop of the city. It has a long history, with people having lived in the region for thousands of years. Temperature variations are not that much throughout the year, but it can dip by a few degrees when traveling inland. It is on the same latitude as Los Angeles, and the weather is similar. One of the best things about this place is the amount of biodiversity their is outside of the city. It hosts an amazing abundance of flora and wild animals, and plenty of tours can be found for tourists to enjoy them.

Things To Do

For those looking for the historical part of town, then head to the Bo-Kaap area. It offers some amazing colored building, as well as great food and views of the city. The Castle of Good Hope dates all the way back to 1666, and is reported to be the oldest building. It includes a lot of historical military paraphernalia, including an art collection.

For those looking to have a very peaceful day, then Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens should be on the list. There are plants from all around the world on show, and thanks to the weather, most of them are always in bloom. Concerts are also held in the gardens, usually during the evening.

One thing that everyone knows about South Africa is that after a long fight against apartheid, Neson Mandela eventually became the President. Before then, he was locked up in prison as a political prisoner for around twenty years, and this building can be seen when visiting Robben Island. There are a number of tours available each day. This should be something that all tourists do.

The area is also well known for its diverse marine life off the coast, and some of these can be seen at the Two Oceans Aquarium. There is plenty to see, and shark feeding takes place a few times a day. For those who wish to see wild marine life, then snorkelling and diving is available. At certain times of the year, it is possible to go whale watching. Food is abundant, and many tourists enjoy eating after a ride in the cable car to the top of Table Mountain. One thing that is popular, is the abundance of high quality South African wine. .
