About

Dubai is part of the United Arab Emirates in the Middle East, and is situated on the edge of the crystal blue warm waters of the Persian Gulf. This makes it one of the top destinations for beach lovers. The UAE is made up of seven emirates, which also includes Abu Dhabi.Tourism continues to increase rapidly, and property expansion continuesat a swift pace. It now has one of the most recognizable skylines on earththanks to the world's tallest building; the Burj Khalifa. Although Dubai is not what many would call cheap, people do get more for their money than many other places due to the high quality of the hotels. The country originally received its money from the sale of oil, but these days they have diversified into tourism and other economic trading.

Things To Do

Due to the heat, most people tend to travel to Dubai during the winter months. There are a large number of wonderful beaches with clean white sand, just be aware that the sun can burn quickly in this area of the world. A visit to the Dubai Marina is relaxing, and a casual stroll along the Jumeirah Beach Walk can help to relieve stress.

Shopping is big business in Dubai, and many tourists flock to the jewelry shops to purchase items made of gold. Remember that it is possible to haggle over prices to get a better deal. Downtown Dubai is the best place for good deals on gold, electronics and many other items. The area also has the Burj Khalifa and it is well worth travelling to the observation deck to stand on top of the world.

For those who wish to see the older parts of Dubai, then a trip to Bur Dubai will reveal some amazing structures. The area is also full of old style shops, and has a number of floating restaurants on the local creek. This area really gives the tourist the feeling of how Dubai used to be.

Another location where bargains can be picked up are Little India and Little Manila, both found in Satwa. The Indian and Filipino communities live here, and there are many shops offering a wide variety of items. Tourists buy a lot of gold and textiles from here, again, haggle over the prices. Dubai offers something for everyone, from great shopping to relaxing times on beautiful beaches. The weather is always great and the local people are friendly and helpful.
