About

Jamaica has been a part of the British Commonwealth since 1655, which means that a lot of the country’s laws and traditions are recognizable to people from the Western world. This island country is very relaxed and easygoing, and tourists feel instantly welcome in this beautiful corner of the Caribbean. As the main language spoken is English, there are no issues communicating. Some people struggle with the dialect, but it becomes easier after the first few days. The local climate is tropical, and it is hot and humid throughout the year. Jamaica is a very popular destination at Christmastime.

Things To Do

One of the main reasons people head to Jamaica is to lounge around on the country’s many wonderful beaches. The waters are warm and clear blue, while the beaches go on for miles. Most hotels open straight onto a beach, and for those that do not, the golden sands are only a short walk away. One of the most visited areas on the Jamaican coast is Dolphin Cove. Here tourists get to interact up close with dolphins, and it is an experience that stays with people forever.

Of course, a visit to Jamaica would not be complete without including a visit to the Bob Marley Museum. The great musician lived here in this home, and he recorded his music there until his untimely death in 1981. For those who wish to enjoy the Bob Marley experience further in depth, go on the one-hour tour.

The Dunn River Falls are next to the famous Montego Bay, which is familiar to many from the lyrics of quite a few songs. The falls are natural, and are stunning to look at. They are also a great way to cool off, as people are allowed to bathe in them. Montego Bay itself is one of the most spectacular beaches within the Caribbean.

No matter where a visitor stays, heading over to the west side of the island at some point is a must. Make sure that it is a clear day. Time it right and you’ll witness one of the most amazing sunsets this planet has to offer. Getting to the west side of the island can be done by using a bus or taxi, or hiring a car.
