About

Miami is found on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, in the southeastern part of Florida. Its location on the globe means that it is usually assured of great warm weather all year. Even during the winter nights it only gets cool. It is the main city within Florida and its population of over 5 million are spread out over a wide area. The main part of Miami that everyone recognizes is its long sandy white beaches, made famous by programs like Miami Vice. The city is often referred to as the "Capital of Latin America", due to the number of residents from the Americas and Cuba. It is this mix of people that gives the place its unique cultural feel.

Things To Do

This city is all about water, whether that be the surrounding lakes, the Everglades, or the Ocean, so a high number of activities are related to those. One of the best ways of seeing the surrounding area is on the Miami Millionaire's Row Boat Tour. This is a 90 minute trip which takes in a number of locations, all beautifully explained by the narrator. It is impossible to visit Miami without going on one of the Everglades Air-boat Tours. Take in one of the guided tours to see more of the local wildlife, including crocodiles. .

Key West is an amazing place, and travelling along the 7 mile bridge to get there is an experience long remembered. The best way is via one of the tour buses, but hiring a car is also an option. Most hotels can arrange this kind of trip. There are also a number of other boat tours available, and it is worth going on a few of them, as all are enjoyable. For those who like to do their own thing, then hire a boat.

The Frost Art Museum and Lowe Art Museum both contain a lot of local art, but also plenty from Latin America and Asia. Centuries old paintings and statues are on show to view. The Oleta River State Recreation Park is the largest in the area, in fact, it is so big, cars and bicycles are available to hire in order to get around it.

Animal lovers are not to be left out, and the Miami Zoo offers a wide variety of wildlife. This place is great for adults and kids. Another great place for local wildlife is Jungle Island, which runs a number of animal shows each day. To finish off, spend a few hours at the Miami Seaquarium.
